All Aboard Sailors!

All aboard. We are off on a sailing trip of the islands and then snorkeling on our own private island. We head out and pass numerous islands on the way including beachcomber, where Jeff visited almost 10 years ago. Treasure island... See any pirates? The surf was azure blue and the beaches were golden white. Ahhh... wish i was back there istead of watching it snow outside. I got my picture with the Chief! We got to watch the Kava cermony and then get a taste. Interesting... Not one of my favorite drinks by far. Isn't this place wonderful! I could stay forever...

New Year's Day

Since we had our own kitchen i even cooked breakfast a few mornings. However the lack of PAM spray was challenging, even the EVOO burnt a layer of the eggs. Still deem it was the pan and not the cook !! Then it was heading to the pool for an afternoon of reading and relaxing...

New Year's Eve Party

So in Fiji it is a tradition to wear masks on New Year's Eve. So we joined in the fun. Here is a look at our Band that played well past the NEW YEAR our time. (About 4am EST on New Year's Eve). No ball drop to watch though. We got to see that the next afternoon. Party like it is 1999! It was so nice to be OUTSIDE and HOT for once on New Years. Cheers to the New Year. Our 2007 was one day shorter and our 2008 is a day longer. Let's hope it is a good one.

New Year's Dinner

We had dinner at Nuku the restaurant at the Fiji resort. We were at a table outside by the pool and our table was so cute with all the decorations. It was a giant buffet dinner with every kind of seafood, sushi, beef, chicken, you name it and a huge dessert bar. There was a pre-show of hula and fire-dancers... Lets get to the pre-show!

New Year's Eve Sunset

Could we have asked for a better start to new years eve, than a dip in the pool and a gorgeous sunset! And to be wearing swim suits... When was the last time we could say that on New Year's eve... Bula everyone! I guess it is now time to get ready for tonight's party!

Paragliding by the pool

Nothing like sitting by the pool after our beach jog and watching some friends drop in around us!

Downtown

Once in downtown we headed for the famous buddhist temple. We were not allowed to wear our shoes and by the time we made it halfway around the temple our feet were burning. We went to the craft and farmers markets. they had tons of Kava for sale.

The road through downtown was so small and crowded. Everyone was trying pressure sales and trying to get us to come into their stores or their area and buy their goods. I was more than ready to head back to the resort. Back to the open air bus. I was hoping we would have chickens on our bus like in the muppets with gonzo... no luck... as we were leaving we did see chickens in cages... Made my day...

Fiji bus trip to Downtown

Yes. This is an open air bus, we saw a few exciting things along the way. A goat on a rope... and a few less than stellar homes. Remember this is a 3rd world country.
